Bio, Jennifer John-Violin • Viola • Chamber Music Coaching

Jennifer John is the Director of String Chamber Music at the Fine Arts Center of Greenville, SC, and the former Violin Teacher and Director of Concertato Strings at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. She previously served as Professor of Violin at the University of Colorado Boulder and is Faculty Emeritus of the Aspen Music Festival and School. Jennifer holds a Level 3 Teaching Endorsement from the Paul Rolland String Pedagogy Society and is a 2025 ASTA Mentor through the American String Teachers Association National Mentoring Program. A former concertmaster of several orchestras, her principal teachers include Dorothy DeLay, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Paul Kantor, Lawrence Maves, and Francesca Koscielny. She earned her Master of Music from the University of Michigan and her Bachelor of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. An active soloist and chamber musician, Jennifer presents masterclasses and workshops nationwide and performs on a 1735 Michael Platner violin. She lives in Greenville, South Carolina, with her son Henry and their five dogs.
